面試


越來越多的美國大學,特別是頂尖名校,開始將面試作為錄取的一項必要考核條件,以便能在龐大的申請者中尋找到真正優秀和合適的學生。更為重要的是,它會在學生未來的留美生活中扮演重要的角色,在找實習和工作的過程中,面試都是必經的一環。愛博強烈建議學生認真對待面試,“不打無準備的仗”,不輕視任何一次面試。我們為學生提供全面完整的面試指導,從材料的準備到實戰性極強的模擬面試,發現和尋找學生面試表現中的不足之處,實現自我的提升。


從面試官的不同來區分,面試大致分為錄取委員會委員面試和校友面試。校友面試一般和最終學校的錄取沒有直接的關聯,它會更靈活,時間會相對彈性,可長可短,聊天性質的,確定一下申請人背景的真實性,發現學生除了材料上展示的特質以外其他的優勢。最后會寫一份報告發到錄取委員會,作為學校選擇學生的一個輔助材料。錄取委員會面試一般時間比較短,因為行程短時間緊,一般一個學生平均20-30分鐘的時間。會直接影響到錄取結果。如果覺得學生和材料上面沒什么差異,并且適合這個學校,錄取基本就比較有把握了。從面試的形式來分,可以分為面對面面試,電話面試,網上面試(通過Skype, MSN等在線聊天工具),以及書面面試。

 

面試前的準備

如果將文章比作是見面前的握手的話, 那么面試就好比是見面后的寒暄。你可以當面告訴面試官你對于學校的渴望,親自講述你個人的成就, 你的人生觀和價值觀。因此面試是一次絕佳展示自己的機會。面試之前, 再次閱讀大學信息, 個人陳述, 成績單和活動列表等, 準備一些面試中常見的問題, 了解一些使面試氛圍輕松的小竅門, 做好面試前的充分準備。盡量多準備幾種答案,靈活的運用。


一位布朗大學的面試官曾經這樣說道:在我面試過程中遇到的表現糟糕的學生不計其數了,原因是他們都沒有好好為面試做準備。他們僅僅是走進我的辦公室,草草地回答了幾個問題便以為可以置身事外了,沒有人向我索要名片,詢問我的個人情況甚至布朗大學基本情況。更為可笑的是他們如果環顧四周的話便會發現那些他們曾經讀過的一本本面試攻略……那些表現糟糕的學生中,有些是過于緊張,有些過于疲勞還有些不在狀態,種種原因,他們在實際面試過程中都沒有回憶起曾經看過的那些技巧。甚至那些表現很糟糕的學生事后往往也不會主動聯系我,有甚者竟然說一點都不了解布朗大學。總之對我們學校沒有表現出于一絲興趣的學生是不會得到我的認可的。

 

面試過程中需注意的細節

1.著裝:如果是申請本科,學生可以穿校服,或是平時上課時穿的衣服,如果是研究生或者一些MBA的applicants面試,最好穿正裝。男士注意刮胡子,包括領帶,襪子顏色等一些細節。

2.時間:一定要準時,外國人的時間觀念很強,寧可早到也不要遲到。

3.客套話:一般面試開始時面試官會說一些比較閑聊的話來活躍一下氣氛。

4.發音:用語不要太過口語化,但是也不要使用標準化的英語。

5.態度:注意舉止, 包括握手方式, 交談時的眼神交流。外國人非常看重眼神交流,中國學生一般在思考或搜索答案的時候眼睛就看別處,注意保持和面試官適當的眼神交流,也是信息傳遞的一種輔助工具。談到興奮的問題當然可以顯得興奮,如果剛開始緊張就說有一點點緊張,如果自己的意見和面試官的有異議可以不卑不亢的表達,語速不要太快,不要以為講得快就代表你英語好,要讓人家聽明白你在說什么。

6.實話實說,不要在你一竅不通的領域裝作專家。至少要在心里對某一項話題有非常充分的底!如果你喜歡音樂,也不要是單純的喜歡,為什么喜歡,喜歡哪種類型,你對音樂的品味和了解等等,讓面試官了解你在至少某一方面的強項。

7.保持冷靜,當面試官給你出難題時,不要慌亂,深呼吸,保持鎮定。如果內容不是你很感興趣的,至少要表明你是一個很好的聽眾,而且可以從中找到自己感興趣的內容來繼續發揮。

8.有時候話題是非常隨意的,當你坐到面試的桌前就不是在考察你的過去了,只是在考察你隨機應變的能力和你對自己到底了解多少的問題。

9.不要有太多小動作,前一天晚上保證充足的睡眠,千萬不要打哈欠等等。

10.最后要準備一些必要的問題問面試官,最好問一些對方的感受經歷什么的。

11.面試時間一般為半小時至1個小時,如果面試官有看表跡象,表明他想要結束面試,此時你就不要再夸夸其談了。

基本上都圍繞著你所學的課程,專業興趣,平時的活動,課外交流,家庭背景,學校環境等,甚至會提到你在申請材料中所提到的一次活動經歷或參賽獲獎經歷。

結束面試

   臨近面試結束之時,你之前所準備的四五個問題便派上用場了,你可以詢問面試官在大學里的具體職務,或者就大學里發生的某個事情詢問他的觀點,或者請他詳述一下面試過程中提及的某個你不太熟悉的話題,再或者關于大學生活,某些機構設置等等。


   通常來說比較理想的面試會持續半個多小時,一個多小時的面試就意味著面試官對你的極大興趣并且有意愿錄用你。在面試結束時跟面試官握手言別,最好是要到一張名片或者電子郵件地址,離開面試室時也不要那么沮喪。面試過后需要郵件感謝面試官,有可能的話可以再次提及面試過程中的某個方面的進展以更新你在面試官眼中的印象。


   成功的面試是需要作充分的準備的。仔細思考和理出問題的答案, 不斷修飾完善你的答案, 大聲練習。但是不要刻意去記住那些答案,因為面試官的目的是了解你如何認識自己以及與他人交流的方式。
